Keep Safe on the Farm

There is always a risk of infection when it comes to animal contact, including E. coli and other diseases. To try to minimise this risk, please follow our recommendations outlined below.

Please do not enter any animal pens or enclosures. Should the need arise, please contact a member of staff.

Ensure children are monitored at all times, please do not let them put their hands in their mouths, especially if they have been touching the animals. Soft toys, dummies or other comforts should not be used in animal feeding areas to avoid the potential for contamination.

Do not eat or drink whilst in the animal feeding areas. Please ensure you wash your hands before eating and drinking.

Pregnant ladies should not have contact with our animals, goats and sheep in particular.

In some instances, it may be necessary for the farm to use electric fences to contain animals within their boundaries, please look out for the relevant signs. Please note that we occasionally have escapees of the animals.

After visiting the animals, ensure that everyone thoroughly washes their hands, using the facilities on the farm. Please follow the signs to our hand washing facilities.

We strongly suggest you avoid picking plants and flowers from around the farm. There are certain plants that can be poisonous and although we regularly try and control them, we can’t always get them all.

Should you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch.

How to Feed the Animals
To help avoid nibbled fingers, feed the animals with your hand held our flat. Take particular care when feeding the donkeys.

When feeding the pigs, place the food on the floor.
