Pumpkins After Dark at Over Farm
Live music, fire, food, and thousands of PYO pumpkins - after dusk on selected dates in October
Take your Halloween to another level with a unique twilight date night, an evening out with friends, or an adventure for all the family
This is more than PYO in the dark: it’s a ghoulishly festive and Autumnal night out to get you in the spirit for Halloween!
When the sun goes down and the stars come out, the pumpkin patch transforms into a spooktacular adventure, ready for daring pumpkin hunters of all ages.
Pull on your wellies, head into the patch under moonlight and get lost in acres of pumpkins while you grab fabulous snaps, enjoy our pumpkincredible displays and find the perfect gourd for your doorstep!
Once you’re done in the patch, grab a drink at the bar and get ready for some sensational fire dancing to really set the mood alight, just in time for a live music set in the roundhouse. Our carefully selected independent food traders have a delicious dish for everyone too!
And don’t forget to hop aboard the tractor trailer too, for a hauntingly hilarious ride around Over Farm. See our ludicrous displays in all their lantern-list glory and enjoy the journey – it’s not exactly the Haunted Hayride, but it’s pretty darn fun!
Our pumpkins will be at their best during October, before the first frosts kick in. Just in time for those crisps Autumn nights, when a hot cup of cocoa (or a punchy ale!) is just what the witch doctor ordered.
Doors will be open from 6pm ‘til 10pm on the dates in the calendar: 9th & 10th, 16th &17th and 23rd – 31st October. Don’t worry about eating before you come – dinner’s sorted with up to six independent food traders and a bar open all evening.
And if you’d like a daytime PYO pumpkins experience, check out our Pumpkin PYO page and book!
Fill up with our independent food traders and enjoy the bar
Introducing the “Food Wall”; street food, farm style! Adjacent to the patch, we’ve crafted a sprawling, sheltered seating spot where you can enjoy fantastic tunes as you indulge in delicious hot food and snacks from our indie vendors.
Don’t forget to head to the bar for warming hot cuppas and some top-notch beer too!
Stick around as the night goes on for a terrifyingly brilliant spectacle from our fire jugglers at 1830, 1930 & 2030, plus some seriously great music during our musicians’ live sets.
And, if you dare, hop aboard the tractor for a bumpy ride around the farm, where you’ll take in our carefully crafted Halloween displays (don’t try and count the pumpkins…). Enjoy the somewhat ridiculous voiceover guide from a witch too; you know you’ll love it.
What our customers say
Had a great day out with the kids today . Highly recommended to other parents. We joined this weekend for the elf event, and girls you worked really hard always a smile upon your faces. Harry great tractor driving though unsure why you were not sporting a pair of stripy tights. The price was amazing for the amount of entertainment available. For your first year it was great I can only see this getting bigger every year. The weather was wet and windy but that still didn’t deter anyone from having a great time. Great coffee too. Located near a bus stop so assess for us non drivers was great. Amazing job guys you should all be proud even those behind the scenes. Tonight I’m tucking in a boy who now truly is in the Christmas spirt
Second year of coming to Over Farm Pumpkins After Dark and another year of enjoyment! We enjoyed the good quality food and cider on offer and of corse roasting marshmallows to. There was the new addition of the ferris wheel this year which was great and we loved it! We had a fabulous night and really enjoyed it as we have done before. Just a little something to add that for us as returning customers we would have loved to see some new entertainment and live music to mix things up and keep us returning!

Join our kid-friendly Halloween fest from Oct 24th to Nov 1st for some frightful fun. Spookyard entry covers live witch shows, our infamous Monster Mash-Up Disco, fancy dress competitions, a spooky woodland trek, and full farm park access. Meet our friendly animals, explore our play areas, enjoy rides on the tractor trailer and quad train, play a round of mini or foot golf, blast off at the corn cannons and jumping pillows, and get lost in the maize maze!
If you’re up for a seriously spooky experience with Spookyard and Pumpkins After Dark on the same day, you’re probably best-off heading to the Toby Carvery just next door between 4pm and 5.30pm.
On the other hand, you could always tack on some daytime Pumpkin PYO by booking an afternoon slot and heading over to the patch after you’re finished at Spookyard. Last entries for daytime Pumpkin PYO are at 4pm.
Countryside Adventure will also be open for all our usual high jinks and fun at weekends throughout September and October, before Spookyard starts at half term.

FAQs
Of course! Well behaved dogs are very welcome to join in with the fun, but please keep them on a lead at all times, take their poop away with you and be respectful of any children (or grown-ups!) who are nervous around pooches. There is a small £2 charge and we’ll have a treat and poo bags on the entry gate.
Live music starts at 1800 and continues with interludes until 2100. The interludes are filled with Fire shows which start at 1830, 1930 & 2030 and last around 15 minutes per show.
You can…but we wouldn’t. It’s muddy in the patch and you’d have quite a job navigating between the thousands of pumpkins to find your perfect one. Best use a carrier to keep your baby off the floor.
Your ticket price depends on when you book. Prices vary by date and demand, so booking earlier online gives better value.
Prices may increase as the event date approaches, and paying on the day at the gate is always the most expensive option.
For the best value, book online 14+ days in advance to access our Earlybird prices.
Sadly, due to the nature of the site and that the parking is in a field and the pumpkins are too, the site isn’t considered accessible for wheel chair users.
If you have something like a Tramper, you should be fine except for the trailer ride.
Absolutely. We just ask that the child or adult you’re accompanying has the “+1” box ticked on their Access Card. This helps us make sure our free carer tickets are going to the people who really need them, and means we can keep offering this support to families who rely on it 💛
To keep things simple and fair for everyone, we now use the Access Card with the +1 symbol for visitors who need to bring a carer. It gives us one clear and consistent way to recognise access needs, instead of checking multiple documents at the gate, which wasn’t always easy and could put pressure on both guests and staff. Verification is handled privately and securely by an independent organisation, helping your visit start smoothly. There is a small cost to apply, and we understand it’s an extra step. Overall, it creates a straightforward process for anyone who needs carer support.
Yes. While we cannot offer refunds, we can transfer your booking to another date of the equivalent ticket price or less.
If you created an account at the point of checkout, you can log in HERE to alter your booking. Please note, the system will not allow this if you have booked a discounted ticket, and there will be a charge if the new ticket price is higher.
If you did not create an account, our team will be happy to alter your booking for you. To do this, please email us with your booking reference and the new date and time which you would like to move your visit to.
All of the above options may be subject to fees and ticket price increases.
We’ve got every size, shape and shade you could imagine! Orange ones, white ones, green ones, giGANtic ones, and some that are nearly small enough to pop into your pocket!
Anywhere from £1.50 to £100! Anything the size of a tennis ball is just £1.50 then the pumpkins go up in price as they get bigger. A 13-incher (diameter) is still only £10, and it’s only the sumo pumpkins that cost £20 to £100 depending on their size (but when we say sumo, we MEAN sumo!). You can use our handy measuring table at the field to make sure you’ve got your ideal size.
We have a dedicated pricing page here if you want more detailed pricing.
Do you like peace and quiet or are you in the mood for a bit of Halloween buzz? The pumpkin field is busiest at the weekends (especially in the early sessions) and we’re expecting the evening picking sessions to be very popular again. So if you’re after a quieter slot, maybe try a daytime slot on a weekday (available later in October).
Great question, and one that is becoming more important as people consider the implications of buying food simply to cut up and look at.
Almost all of the pumpkins and squash we sell are edible.
Rees and Kate have made a video which explains what you can do with them here.
Keeping PYO Pumpkins sustainable: don’t chuck those Gloucestershire gourds away!
Once Halloween’s finished and the spooky festivities are over, don’t let your jack-o’-lanterns go to waste.
Take Autumn seriously and roast those leftover pumpkin seeds for a scrumptious snack or blend the flesh into a velvety soup. Some pumpkins can even be stuffed and baked whole for a showstopper dish at a dinner party! Get more ideas in our farmer Rees’s handy video guide to our pumpkin varieties here.
But why stop at eating? Get creative! Inedible pumpkin varieties make fantastic and unique rattles for little ones or funky musical instruments when dried out.
By thinking green, we can keep our PYO pumpkins thriving and continue to enjoy the thrill of PYO year after year. So join us this Autumn in making your pumpkin-picking adventure a celebration of sustainability and delicious eats – as well as of Halloween!
