Welcome to the Meat Cave…
Nestled in a cosy little cubby within Over Farm Market lies the Meat Cave, where you’ll find a superior selection of high quality, locally sourced meat, served with a smile by Lib, Karle, Russell and Keith.
Our Gloucestershire Butchery is packed with beautifully fresh meats, from traditional and convenience cuts to a good ol’ lamb chop. You’ll also enjoy browsing (and eating!) our wide range of sausages, burgers and faggots, all of which have been made by hand in-house.
We make oven-ready meat dishes too, like our popular Hunter’s Chicken – plus plenty for your pans, like our minty lamb steaks, garlic butter chicken fillets and piri piri chicken thighs (so long as you can handle a spicy kick!). Come summer, you’ll find a smoky BBQ range of pre-rubbed meats, ready to go straight on the grill and create a stir at feed time.
Visiting the counter is an experience in itself, you can get a story about every single cut and slice! Our team know a lot about meat and they’re always happy to share, so if you have any questions about our stock, please just ask.

Fresh, quality meat from local farms
If you love to support local and you’re partial to a hearty dinner, our Gloucestershire Butchery is most definitely for you. For two decades, we’ve been sourcing our meat from local farms close to Gloucester.
Our beef comes from Hewletts Farm in Westbury on Severn, chosen specifically because of the way they look after their herds. Creating happiness for cattle and customers is the number one priority at Hewletts, which explains why they use the pulp from a nearby cider producer to feed the cattle!
That’s the beauty of buying your meat from a local butcher. You always know what you’re getting, and we’re committed to making sure your meat honours the life of the animal that provided it.

If you’re short on time and you know what sort of meat you’re after, why not use the Butchery section on our online shop to purchase your quality food for click and collect?
We’ll have your meat packed and ready to go at your chosen time so you can simply pop in and pick it up. Just pop GL2 8DB in your satnav and turn off the A40 at Over Farm Market. The shop is open from 9am to 5pm every day (and until 6pm during British Summer Time). We’d love to see you soon!

What our customers say
A good farmshop with onsite butcher. Sells range of fruit and veg, cheeses and pies, dairy and dry produce. Traffic lights on dual carriageway make easy access. Especially good for meat, cheese and local veg. Good cafe onsite serving breakfasts, sandwiches and soups. Now with new cafe and more seasonal outdoor activities for children.
Great produce. Farm fresh. No plastic packaging. Really good butcher. Buy what you want, not just what supermarkets want to sell you!
Went purely for the lovely food. Lots of amazing things to eat, but the butchers is the best. Sadly I felt the home made foods like cake and pies, was before fantastic, but this time seemed a bit limited and not as amazing as before, but will defo visit again and hope for new and home made interesting food. Is exceptionally busy, but getting the quality and of course organic home grown is what makes it worth every penny. Service is always nice and friendly. Just needs a bit more home made food to give it that range of home made food feel, that makes it extra special.

Got a family who loves to have fun in the great outdoors? Just down the track from Over Farm Market lies Over Farm’s Countryside Adventure, where you’ll find LOADS to keep the kids entertained, with big smiles all round.
Countryside Adventure opens for special events throughout the year, so your child can go wild with huge farm-themed play areas, bouncing pillows, tractor trailer rides, quad trains, animal trails and other specially themed crafts and activities!
Tickets are released ahead of each event and often sell out quickly.
