Let’s do Autumn right! Find the perfect pumpkin in our 17-acre PYO patch and enjoy an authentic Autumnal experience, pumped full of fun.

What does your perfect pumpkin look like? Whether you prefer something cute and petite, something HUGE and round, or something gnarlier than your Great Aunt Mildred, you’ll find the most gorgeous gourds in Gloucester right here at Over Farm.

Ideal for a fun family morning out or even a unique daytime date, our PYO pumpkin patch gets everyone smiling year after year – and the photos for your Instagram grid don’t hurt either!

The patch is very photogenic, and you’ll have a whale of a time finding your favourite pumpkin amidst the beautiful sea of orange. But this isn’t JUST a pumpkin PYO session – there’s a lot more to picking pumpkins at Over Farm than the amazing 17-acre patch! With eye-catching (and somewhat hilarious) displays all over the place, a huge undercover seating area, well-stocked bar and independent food traders, it really is an experience for all the family when you pick your own pumpkin at Over Farm in Gloucester.

So if you want to celebrate the season by finding the perfect pumpkin for carving, or even for cooking a delicious pie from a locally-grown squash, dust off your wellies and book a visit to our PYO pumpkins near Gloucester this October.

When are the pumpkins fields open in 2026?

While growing pumpkins is something that takes our time and energy all year round, they won’t come into season for picking until late September, and they’ll be at their best during October, before the first frosts. That’s when a pumpkin’s skin really starts to harden and the stem cracks – ideal for the picking and carving, or cooking!

In 2026, PYO Pumpkins at Over Farm in Gloucester runs from 10am – 5.30pm every weekend (last entries at 4:30pm) from the 3rd of October. AND every single day from the 23rd – 31st October too, so you can enjoy a family pumpkin picking session during half term.

If you’d like a moonlight PYO experience, check out Pumpkins After Dark!

Delicious food and drink from our carefully selected independent traders

Delicious food and drink from our carefully selected independent traders – and yes, there’s coffee!

At the edge of the patch you’ll find our farm-friendly version of your favourite street food event. We’ve created a massive, covered seating area where you can  fill up on tasty hot food, snacks and hot drinks to warm you up.

We’ll have all sorts of food from our carefully chosen independent traders, including burgers, Toots (battered cover potatoes) and crepes. Plus all your favourite cuppas (hot chocolate is a MUST for pumpkin pickers!)

Pumpkins patch is a vibe

If you’re bringing the kids to pick your own pumpkins in October half term, why not brave it at Spookyard too?!

Spookyard 2016 (30)
Over Farm Market

Our hilarious Halloween festival for kids is running throughout October half term, from 24th October – 1st November 2026. It’s a frightfully fun and FULL day out, packed with fresh air, silliness and all sorts of spooooky shenanigans.

Your entry ticket doesn’t just get you access to our riotous live shows, monster mash-up disco, fancy dress competitions and devilish woodland walk – full access to the farm park is included too.

Enjoy a ghoulish adventure, meeting ostriches, ponies, llamas and more on our animal trail. Then hitch a lift on the tractor trailer before bumping around the track in the quad train. Time for a spot of mini golf next, or foot golf if you prefer, then head to the corn cannons, play areas, maize maze and jumping pillows, before rounding off your extraordinary day with a spot of duck racing. It really is all included in your ticket!

Countryside Adventure will also be open for all our usual high jinks and fun at weekends throughout September and October, before Spookyard starts at half term.

Please use this link for weekends, and the Spookyard one above for the Half-term.

We’d recommend booking an afternoon pumpkin PYO slot if you’re planning on visiting Spookyard too – there’s heaps to do there!

Our strawberries are growing well 🍓

It's not just pumpkins that the farm team is getting ready for. Coco and the team have been out prepping for our famous pick-your-own strawberries season! 🍓

While we are still a few months away from the pick-your-own season, it is great to see all the work going into making summer a memorable one!

FAQs

Of course!  Well behaved dogs are very welcome to join in with the fun, but please keep them on a lead at all times, take their poop away with you and be respectful of any children (or grown-ups!) who are nervous around pooches. There is a small £1 charge and we’ll have a treat and poo bags on the entry gate.

You can…but we wouldn’t. It’s muddy in the patch and you’d have quite a job navigating between the thousands of pumpkins to find your perfect one. Best use a carrier to keep your baby off the floor.

Your ticket price depends on when you book. Prices vary by date and demand, so booking earlier online gives better value.

Prices may increase as the event date approaches, and paying on the day at the gate is always the most expensive option.

For the best value, book online 14+ days in advance to access our Earlybird prices.

Sadly, due to the nature of the site and that the parking is in a field and the pumpkins are too, the site isn’t considered accessible for wheel chair users.

If you have something like a Tramper, you should be fine except for the trailer ride.

Absolutely. We just ask that the child or adult you’re accompanying has the “+1” box ticked on their Access Card. This helps us make sure our free carer tickets are going to the people who really need them, and means we can keep offering this support to families who rely on it 💛

To keep things simple and fair for everyone, we now use the Access Card with the +1 symbol for visitors who need to bring a carer. It gives us one clear and consistent way to recognise access needs, instead of checking multiple documents at the gate, which wasn’t always easy and could put pressure on both guests and staff. Verification is handled privately and securely by an independent organisation, helping your visit start smoothly. There is a small cost to apply, and we understand it’s an extra step. Overall, it creates a straightforward process for anyone who needs carer support.

Yes. While we cannot offer refunds, we can transfer your booking to another date of the equivalent ticket price or less.

If you created an account at the point of checkout, you can log in HERE to alter your booking. Please note, the system will not allow this if you have booked a discounted ticket, and there will be a charge if the new ticket price is higher.

If you did not create an account, our team will be happy to alter your booking for you. To do this, please email us with your booking reference and the new date and time which you would like to move your visit to.

All of the above options may be subject to fees and ticket price increases.

We’ve got every size, shape and shade you could imagine! Orange ones, white ones, green ones, giGANtic ones, and some that are nearly small enough to pop into your pocket!

Anywhere from £1.50 to £100! Anything the size of a tennis ball is just £1.50 then the pumpkins go up in price as they get bigger. A 13-incher (diameter) is still only £10, and it’s only the sumo pumpkins that cost £20 to £100 depending on their size (but when we say sumo, we MEAN sumo!). You can use our handy measuring table at the field to make sure you’ve got your ideal size.

We have a dedicated pricing page here if you want more detailed pricing.

Do you like peace and quiet or are you in the mood for a bit of Halloween buzz? The pumpkin field is busiest at the weekends (especially in the early sessions) and we’re expecting the evening picking sessions to be very popular again. So if you’re after a quieter slot, maybe try a daytime slot on a weekday (available later in October).

Great question, and one that is becoming more important as people consider the implications of buying food simply to cut up and look at.

Almost all of the pumpkins and squash we sell are edible.

Rees and Kate have made a video which explains what you can do with them here.

Those Gloucestershire gourds are worth keeping! Here’s how to embrace sustainability with your PYO Pumpkins

When the Halloween festivities have come to an end, don’t bid your pumpkins a hasty farewell. Think green, whip on your apron and get creative, transforming your jack-o’-lanterns into a culinary delight.

In this handy video guide to Over Farm’s pumpkin varieties, our farmer Rees gives you lots of great ideas to keep you busy in the kitchen after Halloween, so you can stop worrying about waste at the end of the season… And start eating delicious dishes cooked with farm-grown ingredients!

What will you do with your inedible pumpkins though? Rees has an idea for that too! Watch the video and find out how to be more sustainable with your pumpkins this year.

We’d love to hear what you end up doing with your pumpkins after Halloween, so please feel free to share your pictures and ideas on our PYO Facebook page. Let’s turn pumpkin PYO into a celebration of delicious eats, sustainability and – of course – Halloween!
