If you’re looking for something fun to do outdoors in Gloucestershire, you’ll find it in Over Farm’s PYO fields. Whether it’s an activity for the family, a unique date or you simply want the freshest PYO fruit in Gloucester, we love welcoming visitors to our fields. Come along, grab a recyclable punnet and pick your cream of the crop, as fresh as it gets!
Like with all farming, the readiness of our crops is very dependent on the good old British climate. So once the crops are ready, we release PYO tickets little by little, always with one eye on the weather forecast.

Great afternoon picking strawberries and sunflowers. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You can definitely taste the difference between these and shop bought.
We had a wonderful time at the strawberry farm! The strawberries were fresh, sweet, and plentiful, making the picking experience so enjoyable. It was a perfect day out for the whole family.Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing experience with delicious strawberries!
Delicious sandwiches here with a good selection of fillings. Hot chocolate & black coffee was also very good. They also have a brilliant selection of fruit, cold meats, pastries, cakes, jams, pickles & gifts galore there. Well worth a visit. Great place for trips out with the kids with a big animal family to pet too. Including tractor 🚜 rides & flights in a microlight for those who want to see Gloucestershire from the air.
How Gloucesters finest PYO came to be
It was the early nineties when our old farmer Rob planted six football pitches’ worth of strawberry plants to keep the good people of Gloucester (and his two sons!) busy. He grew all the best varieties: Cambridge Favourite, Pegasus, Hapli, Bogota and the famous Elsanta.
Keeping the strawberries in perfect picking condition took lots of work; overhead irrigators, straw-spreading machines and endless bale bumping to move straw to the fields from the barns. That’s where the straw was always kept over winter, as a backstop for the onion harvest. Every now and then you’d find the odd onion masquerading as a strawberry in the patch!
Rob’s mum (Granny!) would weigh the fruit for visitors using an old 12-240 volt inverter and a Casio till and scales. You’d always get a good blast of Wimbledon on the radio while Granny weighed your strawberries, and a cheeky hello from Molly and Dolly the donkeys who kept her company. Our strawberries have moved now, but they’re just as tasty and popular today as they were back then – and we’ve even added sunflowers and pumpkins to the PYO mix too. Check out our old strawberry PYO pictures (and some great 90s fashion)…
The Everbearers are keeping a steady supply of strawberries going in the field just now. With the cooler nighttime temperatures, flavour is better too. Looking forward to seeing you in the field this weekend!
